Mira Child Care - Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE - to be set at publication]
Mira Child Care ("Mira," "we," "us") is made by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME - to be set at publication]. This policy explains what information Mira collects, why, where it is stored, and what choices you have.
Who this policy is for: Mira is designed for parents, guardians, and people a parent has personally authorized (such as a nanny, grandparent, or babysitter) to help record information about a child. If you are a parent or guardian, you are the person who creates and controls the Mira account and enters information about your child. Mira is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly allow children to create their own Mira accounts or interact with Mira on their own.
1. The most important thing to know: this is a record-keeping tool, not a medical device
Mira helps you record and organize information you already know about your child: medications, symptoms, appointments, growth, and care history. Mira does not verify, diagnose, interpret, or give medical advice about any information you enter. The accuracy, completeness, and correctness of everything you record in Mira - medication names and doses, allergy severities, symptom descriptions, appointment notes, and everything else - is your responsibility as the person entering it. Always confirm medication doses, care instructions, and any health decision with a qualified medical professional. Never rely on Mira alone in an emergency.
2. What we collect and why
Information about your child, entered by you. This is the core of the app: your child's name, date of birth, medical history, medications, allergies, conditions, medical events, therapy and doctor visits, growth measurements, birth history, care team contacts, and any photos or documents you attach (like a photo of a rash or a scanned lab result). We collect this only because you choose to enter it, in order to provide the record-keeping and organization the app is for. We do not add to it, infer from it, or use it to build a profile of your child beyond what you can see and edit yourself.
Your account identity. When you first open Mira, we create an anonymous identity for your device automatically, so your data can be organized and (if you choose) synced, without asking you to sign up. If you choose to sign in with Google or create an account with your email address, we additionally receive the email address (and, for Google sign-in, the name and profile photo your Google account shares with apps you sign into). This identifies you, the adult account holder, not your child.
Crash and diagnostic information. If crash reporting is enabled (it is on by default; you can turn it off any time in Settings, under Data & Privacy), we receive standard technical diagnostics when the app crashes or errors: device model, OS version, app version, and the error itself. We never send any of your child's information, or any text you typed, as part of a crash report. This is enforced in how the app is built, not just a promise: crash reports carry only technical state, never entered content.
Photos and files you attach. If you attach a photo or document to a record (for example, a photo of a symptom or a scanned form), Mira accesses your device's photo library or camera only when you choose to add an attachment, and only for that purpose.
3. Where your information lives
On your device, by default. Mira is designed to work fully offline. Your child's care record lives in a local database on your phone whether or not you ever connect to the internet or sign into anything.
In the cloud, if you use sync. Cloud backup and sync is a visible switch in the app's settings. It is on by default so a lost phone does not mean a lost record, and you can turn it off at any time. While sync is on and you are signed in, a copy of most of your child's record is stored securely on Google's Firebase infrastructure, associated only with your own account, so your data can move between your devices or survive a lost phone. Data sent to and from our cloud services is encrypted in transit. Cloud-hosted data is encrypted at rest by Google's infrastructure as a matter of standard practice for Firebase and Google Cloud.
Attachments. Photo and document files you attach are encrypted on your device using your device's secure hardware-backed key storage. If sync is active, the underlying files are also uploaded to secure cloud storage tied to your account.
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We never will. We do not share your child's information with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own purposes. The only places your data goes are the storage locations described above, which exist to run the app you are using.
4. Who can see your data
Only you, and anyone you personally choose to share access with inside the app (for example, an authorized caregiver you invite into your family). When you invite someone, you choose their role, and that role controls what they can see and do. Mira does not have a customer-support team that browses your child's medical records, and we do not access your data except as needed to operate, secure, or troubleshoot the service, or as required by law.
5. Your choices and controls
- Crash reporting: on by default, one tap to turn off in Settings, under Data & Privacy.
- Cloud backup and sync: a visible switch in the app's settings, on by default, off whenever you say so. With sync off, your record stays only on your device.
- Delete your data: in the app, Settings, then Data & Privacy, then "Delete all data" permanently removes your records from your device and from our cloud storage.
- Delete your account: in the app, Settings, then Profile & Account, then "Delete account" deletes your cloud data, your sign-in identity, and every record and setting on your device, returning the app to its just-installed state. You can also delete your account on this website, or by email; see the account deletion page.
6. Children's privacy
Mira is intended to be used by adults - parents, guardians, and people they have personally authorized - to record information about a child in their care. Mira does not knowingly collect information directly from a child, and children are not the ones creating accounts, agreeing to this policy, or operating the sign-in flow. The information in a child's record is entered by the adult account holder.
7. Data retention
Your data is kept for as long as you use Mira. If your trial or subscription lapses, your data stays on your device (and in cloud sync, if active) so it is there the moment you resubscribe. We do not delete anything just because a subscription lapses. You can delete your data or your account at any time as described in section 5.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we will show a notice in the app and update the date at the top of this page before the change takes effect.
