Mira Child Care - Accessibility Statement

Mira Child Care is built for parents and caregivers - including people who are older, who have low vision, or who use a screen reader or other assistive technology. Accessibility is not an afterthought here; it is something our team actively works on, in the app and on this website, because the people who most need this app should be able to use it comfortably.

This page explains, in plain language, what we have already done, how this website itself behaves, and where we still have work to do. If something here is hard to see, hard to read, or hard to use, we want to hear about it - see "How to report a problem" below.

1. How the app is built for you

The Mira Child Care Android app includes the following, built with this audience specifically in mind:

• Large, readable text throughout, sized to respect your phone's own text-size setting - if you have increased your phone's text size, Mira's text grows with it.
• Strong color contrast between text and its background, checked against a widely used accessibility guideline called WCAG 2.2 AA (a set of standards for making digital products easier to see and use), so text stays readable in bright light or for people with low vision.
• Big, easy-to-tap buttons and controls, at least 44 pixels across (about the size of a fingertip) - no tiny buttons that are hard to hit accurately.
• Selection-based inputs - dropdowns, chips, pickers - instead of free typing wherever the answer is predictable, so entering information does not depend on precise typing.
• Screen-reader support: buttons, cards, and controls carry proper labels for people using TalkBack (Android's built-in screen reader) or similar assistive technology.

This is ongoing work, not a finished checklist - see "Known limitations" below for exactly where things stand today.

2. How the website is built for you

• Body text sized and contrasted to meet the same WCAG 2.2 AA guideline - readable text, at least 4.5:1 contrast for regular text and 3:1 for large headings.
• Keyboard navigation: every link and button on this site can be reached and activated using only a keyboard, with a visible outline showing where you are.
• A "skip to main content" link at the top of every page, so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump straight past repeated navigation.
• Reduced-motion behavior - see the next section.
• No content that flashes, auto-plays, or moves in a way that could be disorienting.

3. Reduced motion on this website

If your phone or computer has "reduce motion" turned on, the gentle animated background on this site (the sun, clouds, and other moving scenery) stops moving automatically. The page still looks complete - nothing is missing, it is just still.

4. How to report a problem

If something on this site or in the app is hard to see, hard to read, or hard to use with a screen reader or other assistive technology, please tell us - we want to fix it. Email us at support@mirachildcare.com. A real person reads every message; we do not yet have a formal promised response time, but we take these reports seriously.

5. Known limitations, honestly

We would rather tell you plainly where we still have work to do than leave gaps unmentioned:

• This website offers a light/dark theme toggle in the header (and follows your device's own light/dark setting automatically until you choose). The Mira Child Care Android app does not have dark mode yet - the app currently supports light mode only, with dark mode planned as a future improvement.
• Our accessibility work is ongoing, not finished everywhere. We have completed a focused accessibility pass on several of the app's most-used screens, and we are extending that work to the rest of the app over time - not every screen has had this pass yet.
• We have not yet completed a formal, independent accessibility audit. This site and app are designed against the WCAG 2.2 AA guideline, but "designed against a guideline" and "independently audited or certified" are different things - we have not made an audit or certification claim, and we will update this page honestly if that changes.
